“Hero” is a single released by Enrique Iglesias from his second English album Escape and was written for his good friend Simon Baxendale, by Iglesias, Paul Barry and Mark Taylor. Enrique first released the song to radio in early September 2001 to a positive critical and commercial reception. After the September 11th attacks on theWorld Trade Center, the song was one of the few songs chosen by radio DJs in New York to be remixed with audio from police, firefighters, civilians at Ground Zero and politicians commenting on the attacks. He was asked to sing the song live at the benefit concert America: A Tribute to Heroes ten days after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Iglesias broadcast his performance from a warehouse in New York alongside Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, andSheryl Crow. The location of the warehouse was kept secret in case of further attacks. It was Iglesias’ first televised performance of the song. He had performed the song earlier at that year’s Miss Venezuela but due to the terrorist attacks the show was not aired on television. Hero has sold 8 million copies worldwide, becoming Enrique’s best selling single and has been listed in best selling singles worldwide. conservativeweasel.blogspot.com

This is a kind of what you would call a mash up song I guess, that I wrote recently. I’m not sure if it’s really been done before. It started out as a normal song but I realized that i was using a few song titles in my lyrics, so I decided to actually try to use as many as possible and see if I could write a whole song with only them. So this is what was created. I used 51 famous song titles; titles which have been used by about 80 famous artists over the years. Below is a list of the songs and most of the artists that have used the titles: 1) I Tried – Bone Thugs N Harmony ft. Akon 2) Redemption Song – Bob Marley 3) Just Lose It – Eminem 4) Since You’ve Been Gone – Kelly Clarkson 5) Seems To Me – Joe Walsh & The James Gang 6) So Far Away – Dire Straits, Staind, Crossfade, Carole King 7) I Guess You’re Right – The Posies 8) I Cant Stand Losing You – The Police 9) Never Let You Go – Third Eye Blind, New Kids On The Block 10) There’s Nothin’ – Sean Kingston ft. Elan & Juelz Santana 11) I Can – Nas 12) My Favorite Mistake – Sheryl Crow 13) Love Hurts – Incubus, Cher 14) When It’s Raining – The Samples 15) Let You Down – Dave Matthews Band 16) Who’s Cryin’ Now – Journey 17) What Hurts The Most – Rascal Flatts, Cascada 18) Love Sweet Sound – Groove Armada 19) The One – Mary J. Blige ft. Drake, Foo Fighters, Elton John, Shakira, Backstreet Boys, Kylie Minogue 20) Do You Remember – Jack Johnson, Phil Collins 21) Keep Askin – Citizen Cope 22) Come Around – Collie Buddz ft. 1969 www.amazon.com Watch the full film: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com The Columbia University protests of 1968 were among the many student demonstrations that occurred around the world in that year. The Columbia protests erupted over the Spring of that year after students discovered links between the university and the institutional apparatus supporting the United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War, as well as their concern over an allegedly segregatory gymnasium to be constructed in the nearby Morningside Park. The protests resulted in the student occupation of many university buildings and their eventual violent removal by the New York City Police Department. In early March 1967, a Columbia University Students for a Democratic Society activist named Bob Feldman discovered documents in the International Law Library detailing Columbia’s institutional affiliation with the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA), a weapons research think-tank affiliated with the US Department of Defense. The nature of the association had not been, to that point, publicly announced by the University. Prior to March 1967, IDA had rarely been mentioned in the US media or in the left, underground or campus press. A few magazine articles on IDA had appeared between 1956 and 1967 and IDA had been mentioned in a few books for academic specialists published by university presses. The RAND Corporation, not the Institute for Defense Analyses, was the military-oriented think-tank that had received …

Joe “King” Oliver (Dec.19,1885 – April 10,1938) was a jazz cornet player and bandleader. He was particularly noted for his playing style, pioneering the use of mutes. Also a notable composer, he wrote many tunes still played regularly, including “Dippermouth Blues”, “Sweet Like This”, “Canal Street Blues”, and “Doctor Jazz”. He was the mentor and teacher of Louis Armstrong. Two of Armstrong’s most famous recordings, “West End Blues” and “Weather Bird”, were Oliver compositions. His influence was such that Armstrong claimed, “if it had not been for Joe Oliver, Jazz would not be what it is today”. Joseph Oliver was born in Aben, Louisiana, near Donaldsonville in Ascension Parish, and moved to New Orleans in his youth. Oliver played cornet in the New Orleans brass bands and dance bands and also in the city’s red-light district, Storyville. The band he co-led with trombonist Kid Ory was considered New Orleans’ hottest and best in the 1910s. Oliver achieved great popularity in New Orleans across economic and racial lines, and was in demand for playing jobs from rough working class black dance halls to white society debutante parties. According to an interview at the Tulane’s Hogan Jazz Archive with Oliver’s widow Stella Oliver, in 1919 a fight broke out at a dance where Oliver was playing, and the police arrested Oliver and the band along with the fighters. This made Oliver decide to leave the Jim Crow South. By 1922, after travels in California, Oliver was the jazz king in …

THIS IS THE TEXT “PWC and Manassas City The National Capital of Intolerance. European American exterminated millions of Native Americans in order to steal America, they were the first illegal aliens. European Americans have a 500-year history of rape, theft, murder, slavery, artificial borders, “Jim Crow” laws and deportations of Native Americans. Since 1866, the KKK rode at night to torture, lynch and kill blacks, Native Americans and other people of color. Today the actions of PWC. and Manassas City Council are similar to the colaboration between local governments and the KKK in the 1900s. On 2-25-08 Manassas City Mayor Douglas S. Waldron said “I am proud that finally we came to an agreement with PWC to implement 287g because we care about our community.” What community?! 287g. is an agreement with immigration and customs enforcement to detain and question Native Americans by police officers at their discretion. PWC and Manassas City persecute us with our own tax dollar$ , because European Americans would rather have a ghost town than live among Native Americans. They ignore our voices, they ignore our civil and constitutional rights. There is no democracy…stop the persecution. We demand equality and justice for all. We will not be your slaves of the 21st century.”

In episode 610 Ed Wood (our favorite transvestite) is back as screenwriter (oh, the pain). This time Ed tells a story about juvenile delinquency – it apparently was the fad at the time. A rich, spoiled, rotten brat gets her kicks through robbery and raping mildly sexually acceptable young men. However, when she, and her “gang” of delinquent girls, choose to vandalise a classroom – overturning chairs and erasing the blackboard (the fiends) – in the name of communism (????) they end up paying the ultimate price. It’s preceded by the short – Young man’s Fancy – which tries to explain the wonders of electrical appliances through a young’s girls crush on a young man. The conclusion lovestruck young women can take from this is – be a good housewife, act stupid around electrical appliances so he can explain them to you, and round it off by making him a nice dinner. That will make him yours! Beside from this the girls ability to look like she is gagging every time she eats is a bit worrying… Look out for kids with guns, the electric phone, a girl getting the reds, the nerd council, Ed Wood, a non-electrical Manuel Francisco, the hell of cheerfullness and pats on the cheeck, an electric dress, squirt, the make-out police, squishiness, Chester – the 3rd grader, inability to turn right, the dangers of ironing, a guy back from the 20s, and loads of juvenile delinquency. Enjoy!
