Dark City Trailer

Extensive Plot Summary: (spoilers) John Murdoch (Rufus Sewell) wakes in a hotel bathtub, having suffered amnesia. He is called by Dr. Daniel Schreber (Kiefer Sutherland), who urges him to flee the hotel from a group of men called The Strangers. Murdoch escapes, eventually uncovers his real name, and tracks down his wife Emma (Jennifer Connelly). He is also sought for a series of murders, which he cannot remember, by police inspector Frank Bumstead (William Hurt). Murdoch stays on the move in the city, which experiences neverending night. He sees people fall comatose at the stroke of midnight, and he is pursued by The Strangers. In the chase, he discovers that he has psychokinetic powers like The Strangers and uses them to escape them. Murdoch questions the dark urban environment and uncovers that he was originally from Shell Beach. He seeks a way out of the city to find the beach, but nobody remembers the way. The Strangers dispatch one of their own, Mr. Hand (Richard O’Brien), equipped with Murdoch’s lost memories, to track down Murdoch. Constantly on the run, Murdoch sees how the Strangers alter the city’s landscape and people’s identities during the still period at midnight. Murdoch eventually meets Bumstead, who recognizes Murdoch’s innocence and has his own questions about the nature of the dark city. They find and confront Dr. Schreber, who explains that the Strangers are endangered alien parasites who share a collective consciousness and are conducting human

Really great film. Rufus Sewell, Jennifer Connelly, Kiefer Sutherland, William Hurt were great. The 90′s had so many overlooked & underrated SCI-FI films – this one, FutureSport, The Time Shifters, Virtuosity, Tha Lawnmower Man, Alien 3, Space Truckers, Strange Days, The Arrival, Mimic, The Apocalypse (1997), Virus, RoboCop 2, Them, Body Snatchers, eXistenZ, Sphere, Judge Dredd, Demolition Man, Anaconda, The Shadow Men etc

One of the best sci-fi films of all time, yet it remains strangely unknown.

@MovieGuy021: I disagree with you there. I think the directors cut is better paced and it doesn’t spoil the premise at the opening. The theatrical cut has a weird pace where everything feels rushed in my opinion.

“So it seems you’ve discovered your unplesant nature. We mght ask the same question, yes? Sleep Now.

“Dr. Schreber, most unfortunate it is that we were forced 2 seek u out here, U know how uncomfortable we find all this moisture. Failed to report in, yes?

“Carl. Uncle Carl. I have not seen you is so long, yes.

& Mr. Sleep. a little kid with a weapon in his hand chasing Murdock.

trailer got me hooked 2 this. first time i saw it i didnt understand it either. i still get confused at times but i love it its sci-fi/mystery. i’ll never understand tho y if The Strangers can fly as seen in this trailer, y did they take the elevator at the beginning of the film? If they flew, they’d have gotten Murdock or at least c him. And in the scene where John first uses his tuning powers to kill Mr. Quick, how did The Strangers know what Murdock looks like if they never saw them>

It`s actually An Original Screenplay inspired by Metropolis & Invasion Of The Body Snatchers(The `50s Film) in atmosphere.Blade Runner was also an influence(another film inspired by Metropolis).

This is a good movie, however you must interpret it correctly to like it, and unfortunately, many people don’t. I hated it the first time I watched it because it seemed confusing, weird, and real messed up at some parts. But I watched it again and interpreted things more correctly, and I liked it. Though oddly, I watched the Director’s Cut first and the theatrical second, so I guess I like the theatrical cut better because it is more paced…
